Michelle’s Foundation giving back to Guyana

Guyana-born American philanthropist Dr Michelle Gill is giving back to children in her hometown of Georgetown, Guyana this summer through her charity organization Michelle’s Foundation. The New Jersey-based social worker and college professor is also the owner and operator of a radio station, Get With The Fix Radio, that’s syndicated across several states and digitally streamed.

For the past 14 years, Michelle has hosted an annual back to school drive in the neighborhood of Orange, New Jersey. She has also done some charity work on 3 occasions in Jamaica. This will be the second time she’ll be including Guyana on July 2nd. Michelle will be doing a presentation to her alma mater, which she has now completely adopted, the St Gabriel’s Primary School in Georgetown, Guyana.

The graduating class will receive 132 school bags to take for their first year of high school, with the top 10 performing students receiving tablets. 360 Vinyl Printing has also committed to donating additional tablets to some of the children in need. The teachers will be surprised by a token of appreciation sponsored by local business, Secure Innovations and Concepts. Two special little girls who stopped the bullying of another child will receive a special gift as well.

“Giving back to the children of Guyana and seeing their reaction to just me being there is always heartwarming. Donating to a worthy cause is gratifying and to see it up close is the best feeling ever. I hope by doing this, it motivates others to do the same for these children back home,” said Michelle.

Michelle’s Foundation was a major sponsor for the recently concluded A’Legends School Tour in Jamaica, donating 12 tablets to several students from different schools. The 14th Annual Michelle’s Foundation Back To School Drive in New Jersey will be held on August 30, 2025.

Finding Your Footing: Challenges of Internships and Staying Motivated in the Early Career Journey

Starting an internship or industrial attachment is an exciting milestone — your first real taste of the working world. But for many students and recent graduates, it also comes with unexpected challenges that can test confidence, patience, and motivation.

One major hurdle is adjusting to the professional environment. Interns often feel like outsiders — unsure where they fit in, how to speak up, or if they’re even doing the right thing. Tasks can feel either overwhelming or too small to matter. In some cases, interns face limited mentorship, lack of clear direction, or even being sidelined completely.

There’s also the pressure to prove yourself quickly in a competitive space. The fear of making mistakes, imposter syndrome, and comparing yourself to others can quietly chip away at your motivation.

So how do you stay motivated and make the most of this important stage?

First, shift your mindset. See the internship not as a final test but as a learning ground. Every task — even the small ones — builds skills, habits, and understanding. Ask questions, take notes, and show curiosity.

Second, set personal goals. Whether it’s learning a new software, improving communication skills, or building a professional network, having clear goals gives you purpose beyond daily tasks.

Third, celebrate small wins. From finishing your first assignment to getting feedback or even just showing up on tough days — every step counts.

Lastly, seek mentorship. Find someone in your workplace, school, or even online who can offer perspective and guidance.

Remember, your career journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Internships are just the beginning — and even with the bumps, they shape the professional you are becoming. Stay open, stay hungry, and trust the process.

Weight Lifting and Gym Tips to Tone and Gain Muscles Fast

If you're looking to tone up and gain muscle in a short time, weight lifting combined with smart gym practices is your best bet. Building lean muscle not only boosts your strength but also helps burn fat more efficiently. Here are key tips to help you get started and see faster results.

1. Focus on Compound Exercises
Exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and pull-ups target multiple muscle groups at once. These compound moves burn more calories, build strength quickly, and trigger muscle growth effectively. Aim to include at least 3–4 compound exercises in every workout session.

2. Lift Heavy with Proper Form
To see significant gains, challenge your muscles. Choose a weight that makes the last 2–3 reps feel tough but still doable with good form. As you get stronger, gradually increase the weight to keep progressing.

3. Train Consistently and Rest Smart
Work out at least 3–5 times per week, targeting different muscle groups to allow recovery. For instance, alternate between upper and lower body days. Don’t skip rest days—they’re essential for muscle repair and growth.

4. Prioritize Protein and Nutrition
Fuel your body with enough protein (about 1g per pound of body weight) and balanced meals rich in healthy fats and carbs. Post-workout meals are especially important to rebuild muscles—think lean meats, eggs, nuts, and protein shakes.

5. Stay Hydrated and Sleep Well
Muscle recovery happens during rest. Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep nightly, and drink plenty of water to keep your body functioning optimally during workouts.

6. Track Progress and Stay Motivated
Keep a workout journal or use a fitness app to monitor your lifts, sets, and progress. Seeing results, even small ones, will motivate you to stay on track.

In summary, muscle gain and toning don’t happen overnight, but with discipline, a solid workout plan, and proper nutrition, you’ll start seeing results in just a few weeks. Stay consistent and keep pushing your limits

Quick Vehicle DIY Inspection Tips for Car Maintenance

Keeping your car in good shape doesn’t always require a trip to the mechanic. With just a few simple DIY inspections, you can maintain your vehicle’s performance, safety, and longevity. Here are quick tips to help you get started:

1. Check Engine Oil
Your engine needs clean oil to function smoothly. Use the dipstick to check oil levels—if it's low or looks dark and gritty, it’s time for a change.

2. Inspect Tire Pressure and Tread
Under-inflated tires can lead to poor fuel economy and uneven wear. Use a pressure gauge to ensure all tires are at the recommended PSI. Also, check tread depth using a coin or tread gauge—bald tires are dangerous, especially on wet roads.

3. Monitor Fluid Levels
Check coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and transmission fluid regularly. Low or dirty fluids can cause serious issues if ignored.

4. Test Lights and Signals
Walk around your car and test headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and hazard lights. Replace any bulbs that are out to ensure safe driving.

5. Examine Belts and Hoses
Look under the hood for any cracks, frays, or leaks in belts and hoses. If anything looks worn or brittle, it may be time for a replacement.

6. Listen for Unusual Sounds
Pay attention to any new noises when driving—squeaks, rattles, or grinding sounds could signal problems.

7. Keep It Clean
Washing your car isn’t just about looks—it protects the paint and undercarriage from rust and wear.

Performing these quick checks monthly can save you money and prevent major repairs. Stay safe, stay smart, and keep your car running like new!
