Big Moves, Small Device: Stormzy Drops iPhone-Filmed Masterpiece Big Man

The world of filmmaking just got another game-changer — and this time, it fits right in your pocket.

UK rap icon Stormzy is making waves not with just his lyrics, but now with the lens of an iPhone. On Wednesday, he unveiled Big Man, a short film entirely shot on the iPhone 16 Pro, pushing the boundaries of mobile cinematography.

Directed by Aneil Karia (known for the Oscar-winning The Long Goodbye) and lensed by Stuart Bentley (We Live in Time), the 20-minute feature showcases the iPhone’s Cinematic Mode at 4K and 120 fps. The visuals? Crisp. The vibe? Cinematic gold.

Big Man tells the story of Tenzman, a fictional rap artist portrayed by Stormzy himself, who’s feeling stuck in the grind. But everything changes when he crosses paths with two cheeky kids hustling a fake sponsorship scam. Their unlikely journey leads them on a spontaneous road trip to Brighton — with plenty of laughs, tension, and bonding moments along the way.

Produced under Stormzy’s own #Merky Films banner (which officially launched June 11), the project is a collaboration with Apple and Somesuch, the powerhouse behind projects like Urchin, the directorial debut of Harris Dickinson.

This isn’t just a film — it’s a statement. It proves that with creativity and the right tools (even an iPhone), storytelling knows no limits.

Big Man is now streaming for free on Apple’s YouTube channel

Celebrating African Clothing: The Power and Pride of Dashiki Culture

African clothing is incredibly diverse, reflecting a wide range of cultures and traditions across the continent. From brightly colored fabrics and embroidered robes to intricately beaded necklaces and bracelets, each region showcases its unique heritage through fashion. In West Africa, traditional attire is deeply rooted in history, with textiles and styles passed down through generations. Despite increasing Western influence, African culture—especially its fashion—remains a vibrant and unshakable identity marker.

The Dashiki, originally from the Yoruba people of West Africa, is a loose-fitting garment that provides comfort in hot climates. In East Africa, a similar style known as the kitenge has become popular, especially in Kenya and Tanzania. These versatile garments can range from simple wraps to fully tailored suits, embracing both tradition and contemporary style.

Traditionally, Dashikis are paired with the “kufi” cap, particularly in Islamic communities and among the African diaspora. In the 1960s, Dashikis gained popularity in the United States as a bold symbol of Afrocentric identity and pride during the civil rights movement.

In Yoruba culture, Dashiki colors hold symbolic meaning: white was worn by grooms at weddings, purple signified royalty, and blue represented peace and love. Beyond fashion, Dashikis became a form of protest against the disrespect of Black Americans and a powerful reminder of African heritage.

Today, Dashikis are proudly worn during events like Kwanzaa and Black History Month. They symbolize cultural pride, resilience, and the celebration of Black beauty. Modern styles often fuse Dashikis with denim or other fabrics, making them adaptable and stylish for all occasions.

Whether you’re drawn to bright colors or subtle tones, wearing a Dashiki is more than a fashion choice—it’s a statement of identity and connection to African roots

Understanding Blood Types and Personality Traits: Insights from the Latest Classification Model

Blood types have long been studied not only for their biological importance in transfusion medicine but also for their potential connection to personality traits. While science continues to explore the psychological links, many cultures—especially in Japan and parts of East Asia—believe that blood types can offer insight into a person's behavior, temperament, and social interactions. With the rise of new research and models, a more modern classification is now providing updated ways to explore these associations.

Traditionally, blood types are categorized into four main groups: A, B, AB, and O—based on the presence or absence of specific antigens in red blood cells. Each type also has an Rh factor, either positive or negative, making the full system eight basic types.

The latest model of categorization incorporates not only the ABO and Rh systems but also takes into account enzyme activity, genetic markers, and even immune response patterns. This extended model is giving scientists a more detailed understanding of individual blood profiles, potentially linking to unique health tendencies and personality markers.

Here's a popular overview of the general traits often associated with each blood type:

  • Type A individuals are often described as organized, calm, and sensitive. They are seen as loyal and prefer structure.

  • Type B personalities are known to be creative, passionate, and individualistic, with a strong sense of independence.

  • Type AB people are considered to have a balanced personality, rational yet empathetic, and often complex in nature.

  • Type O individuals are generally confident, outgoing, and natural leaders, often admired for their energy and charisma.

While there is no conclusive scientific proof that blood type determines personality, the idea continues to fascinate and influence pop culture, dating preferences, and even employment choices in some countries. The latest models aim to bring a more data-driven approach to this theory, opening exciting possibilities in personalized medicine and behavioral science
