The Nigerian music industry was once dominated by the iconic duo P-Square, comprising twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy. Together, they ruled the airwaves with their infectious Afrobeat sound and unforgettable hits like “No One Like You,” “Do Me,” and “Personally.” However, in recent years, the duo has been embroiled in a highly publicized fallout that led to their disbandment, much to the disappointment of fans across Africa and beyond.
The tensions between the brothers recently resurfaced, with Peter Okoye, now performing under the name Mr. P, addressing his grievances in an open letter to his brother Paul. Peter expressed frustration with how his contributions to P-Square were being minimized or overlooked in interviews and public appearances by Paul, who now goes by Rudeboy.
In the open letter, Peter lamented the lack of recognition he has received for his efforts in P-Square. He revealed that Paul's recent comments in interviews discredited his hard work, suggesting that Peter's role in their success was not as significant as the public believed. This, according to Peter, deeply hurt him, as he had always given his best to the group and had been instrumental in shaping P-Square's legacy.
Peter’s letter highlighted how their once-unbreakable bond as brothers and collaborators has frayed over time. He pointed out that his efforts to make the group successful went far beyond the stage. From overseeing business deals to ensuring their performances were top-notch, Peter claimed he poured his heart into P-Square's success.
