On a solemn day marked by the burial of Ugandan marathoner Rebecca Cheptegei, two Olympic champions, Faith Kipyegon from Kenya and Marco Arop from Canada, used their platform to condemn gender-based violence (GBV) during a meet in Brussels. Cheptegei tragically died after being set on fire by her Kenyan ex-boyfriend, an act of horrific violence that shocked the sporting community and reignited conversations on the urgent need to address GBV.
