Shekila Money – a name that’s steadily becoming a household one in Kenya’s music scene – is more than just an artist. She’s a vibe. A movement. A true Gen Z icon in the making, living by the motto: Only Money Moves.
From as early as primary school, Shekila knew music was her calling. “I loved singing and would join anywhere the music was,” she recalls. But what really sparked her interest was rap – the speed, the rhythm, the lyrical flow. “I really wanted to figure out how a person can sing so fast,” she says. That curiosity led her into the world of rap, where imitating her favorite artists became second nature.
In high school, her gift began to blossom. Shekila would perform her original songs on stage during CU fellowships and entertainment sessions. Her classmates were in awe, nicknaming her Msanii, Rapper, Celeb — a taste of the stardom that was to come.
She dropped her debut track, “DON’T STOP!”, five years ago — a powerful heartbreak anthem about rising after pain. It's still up on YouTube for anyone who loves a story of growth and resilience wrapped in rhythm.
An introvert at heart, Shekila found solace in music. “It felt therapeutic,” she shares. “I’d rather stay home with headphones on than go out.” That love for music has turned into a creative journey that has seen her work with top producers like Adabia (Afdope Records), Sam Ziddo Beats, Hamado (Jayson Records), Easy Propan, Kagoh (Kanairo Classic Records) and most recently Unspoken Salaton from Black Market Records.
Now, Shekila is cooking up fire with two hot new projects:
🔥 "Riba" ft Joefes – a hit song she’s getting ready to drop soon.
🔥 A feature on "Sambaloketo (Remix)" by Kerry B alongside King Smart Boy.
Want to catch her vibe? Just search Shekila Money on Boomplay, Spotify, TikTok, YouTube, or any music platform – the music speaks for itself.
To her fans, she says:
“Expect a hit from me before the end of the year. I’m doing my best to give you the best! 🥂”
Follow the journey. Support the dream. And remember — Don’t Stop! 🖤
