Q: Who are you, and how did your journey into fashion modeling begin?
A: I’m Eunice Kanya, also known as Pretty Shie. My modeling journey began about three years ago when I first worked with the Nairobi-based clothing brand, Home 254. That experience opened the door to the world of fashion for me.

 


Q: What does fashion mean to you personally, and how would you describe your style?
A: Fashion to me is a form of self-expression. It’s how I showcase my creativity and personality. I’m very mindful of what I wear—it’s my art.

 

Q: What has been your most memorable modeling experience so far, and why?
A: My most memorable experience was working with inspiring creatives and being part of a unique campaign that showcased bold designs and powerful storytelling.

 


Q: How do you stay confident and grounded in such a competitive industry?
A: Confidence comes from self-acceptance, hard work, and a solid support system. I stay grounded by focusing on my values and goals. Plus, I believe in myself fully.

 

Q: Which Kenyan or international designers or fashion icons inspire you the most?
A: I’m inspired by designers like Maki Oh and Stella Jean. They’re bold and push boundaries in fashion, blending culture and modern style beautifully.

 


Q: How do you think the Kenyan fashion scene is evolving, and where do you see it heading?
A: The Kenyan fashion scene is growing fast, with more focus on sustainability, innovation, and celebrating African heritage. I believe it’s moving towards more global recognition and collaboration.

 

Q: What advice would you give to young Kenyan girls who dream of becoming fashion models?

A: Embrace your unique features and cultural roots. Build a strong portfolio, network, and always stay open to learning. Stay focused and surround yourself with positive influences, you’ve got this!
